Jason Cundy rages at ‘shameful’ West Ham in new prediction – ‘Disgusting’
West Ham’s season continues to go from bad to worse after their defeat to Brentford at the London Stadium.
Brentford defeated West Ham 2-0 at home with goals from Igor Thiago and substitute Mathias Jensen on 20 October.
The defeat means that Nuno Espirito Santo is still searching for his first win since West Ham opted to replace Graham Potter with him.
With the Premier League still in its opening stages, the Hammers’ performance was both heavily criticised and one that most fans will want to forget.

Jason Cundy slams ‘shameful’ West Ham performance
Most fans would agree that Nuno has a lot to answer for after West Ham’s defeat.
The Hammers were dominated from beginning to end, taking just seven attempts on goal in their own backyard.
Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy was baffled by the “shameful” performance, in which he told talkSPORT on 20 October that the Hammers were in danger of “sleepwalking into the Championship.”
He said: “They are terrible. You said disgusting; that performance was shameful. Absolutely shameful.
“There are basics right, there are prerequisites when you go onto a football field of desire, fight, that doesn’t need coaching. Everything you should have when you go and step on the field, mate, none of it.
“They were pussycats and I don’t want to take anything away from Brentford because Brentford were good and credit to them, but that is unacceptable.
“That was disgusting. Toothless, gutless, spineless, no fight. They’re sleepwalking into the Championship now, from this moment forward.
“I can’t believe how bad they are. From a home team in the Premier League – nothing, there was nothing there. Sometimes you can come away and you might say they were lucky because Brentford on another day they go two or three up at half time.”

What went wrong for West Ham?
The appropriate question to ask would be what didn’t go wrong for Nuno’s side against Brentford.
It was pure and utter domination from the Bees from beginning to end, with the Hammers failing to register a single big chance compared to their opponents’ five, according to Sofascore.
- West Ham took seven shots to Brentford’s 22
- Only two of their shots were inside of the box
- Only 11% of West Ham’s crosses were accurate despite attempting 19
Shockingly, Brentford dominated possession with 57 per cent compared to the Hammers’ 43 per cent. This is an almost unthinkable statistic for a team that is playing at home and sums up the extent of West Ham’s issues.
At the moment, the Hammers are a side that lacks direction, which is dangerous for a team competing in the best league in the world.
Their league position reflects this. West Ham are currently 19th in the Premier League on four points, with relegation a distant possibility.
Now, of course, the situation can be reversed given that it is so early in the season. But given how competitive the Premier League is, time to make further mistakes is a luxury Nuno does not have.
