Jason Cundy braces for West Ham fan fury after what he said live on talkSPORT
Jason Cundy accepts West Ham United fans will not like what he has has to say about one player.
Speaking on talkSPORT’s Sports Bar (3 February, 10:07pm), Cundy predicted a backlash from the East London faithful, having said Jarrod Bowen is “too good” for the Hammers after his display against Chelsea.
Praising the performances of Bowen, who scored the opening goal in the Irons’ 2-1 defeat on Monday (3 February), and Mohammed Kudus at Stamford Bridge, Cundy argued that the skipper is a level above his club.
He said: “Bowen, what a good player he is. Bowen and Kudus – Kudus [was the] best player on the pitch for me, he was so good.
“Bowen’s good, he’s better than West Ham – they’re not going to like me for saying this, they’re seriously not – he’s too good for West Ham.”
Jarrod Bowen fast becoming Mr. West Ham
Awarded the captain’s armband at the start of this season and digging the Hammers out of too many holes to mention already this season, it’s no surprise to see Bowen’s name touted for a potential move.
Cundy may not have said as much outright, but there’ll be plenty of clubs in the Premier League and beyond who wouldn’t mind testing the waters in an effort to sign the Irons’ 28-year-old talisman.

However, as things stand at the London Stadium, Bowen is well placed and well on course to further etching his name into the Hammers’ history books, and is already a club legend given his exploits.
Scoring a winning goal in a European final – let alone to win a club’s first piece of silverware since 1980 – is enough for Bowen to go down as an immortal in claret and blue, and he’s only helped his cause since.
Hammers fans, coaches, and team-mates all look to Bowen for inspiration, and with the England winger now the face of the club, staying in East London for the rest of his career would be a sensational story.
In other West Ham news, one Irons star showed why he should still be in Potter’s first-choice XI despite their two new additions.
