Jarrod Bowen’s World Cup dream at risk due to West Ham United teammates

Jarrod Bowen has been an incredible servant for West Ham since joining from Hull City in 2020.

The West Ham captain went into the East London club’s history books for scoring the winning goal of the 2022-23 Conference League final, yet his future in E20 remains uncertain.

Bowen is linked with a move to Tottenham in January, with supporters terrified of losing their best player in the middle of a relegation battle.

West Ham have insisted Bowen isn’t for sale. However, with the 2026 World Cup approaching, the 28-year-old will have to weigh up his options if he wants the best chance of being included in Thomas Tuchel‘s squad.

Jarrod Bowen may leave West Ham to fulfil World Cup dream

Bowen has been a mainstay in the England team since his debut in June 2022, although West Ham’s current form may impact his hopes of playing in the upcoming World Cup.

Speaking on talkSPORT on 31 October, Gabby Agbonlahor expressed his concerns for Bowen’s chances with the England squad

He said: “Do you know who I feel sorry for? Bowen. You’re trying to get into the England squad for the World Cup, but you don’t want to be in the relegation.

“Tuchel will be looking at him thinking he won’t be able to score the goals he did in previous seasons with the service he’s getting at West Ham.”

Most supporters will agree that if it weren’t for Bowen’s goals over the years, they would have been at threat of relegation long before this season.

Poor recruitment in the summer has left West Ham with a top-quality striker, and they are paying the price as they sit 19th in the Premier League table.

West Ham are expected to be relegated, and Bowen is competing with several superstars to earn his spot in the England team.

If the Hammers’ form continues to plummet, he may feel as though he has no other choice but to leave the club.

Several West Ham players have been underwhelming this season, and after years of delivering consistently, Bowen has clearly been let down by the club’s incompetence.

West Ham’s Premier League status doomed if Jarrod Bowen leaves

Struggles all over the pitch have contributed to the terrible start to the season.

Mads Hermansen has already been dropped following his move from Leicester in the summer, whilst Jean-Clair Todibo has struggled even more since his move to E20 was made permanent.

The confidence in the squad is at an all-time low, and Bowen’s presence in the team is vital to them having a fighting chance of avoiding relegation.

Lucas Paqueta’s future at West Ham is uncertain, and if both players were to leave in January, the Hammers’ 13-year stay in the Premier League would likely come to an end.
