Jarrod Bowen to face fitness test ahead of West Ham United clash v Burnley
Jarrod Bowen is set to undergo a fitness test ahead of the West Ham clash against Burnley on Saturday (25 November), according to Sean Whetstone.
The 6foot2 editor posted on Twitter on Tuesday (21 November) that the England international’s knee injury sustained while on international duty is expected to be “minor” and “not serious”.
He added that the 26-year-old returned to Rush Green on Monday (20 November) to be assessed by the medical staff, with a fitness test to be undertaken later this week to determine whether or not he can make the trip to Turf Moor.
Caution
It is definitely a situation that the West Ham medical staff will approach with great caution because Bowen is an instrumental figure within the team.
While it would be a blow to not have him available against Burnley, there is no point in taking any unnecessary risks if there are any doubts about his fitness.
Although the injury to Michail Antonio doesn’t make the situation any easier, there should still be enough quality in the side to go there and pick up a result without those two players.
Bowen will no doubt be disappointed to have missed the opportunity to get more minutes for England against North Macedonia on Monday, but the decision to send him back to Rush Green was for the best.
The winger can now look forward to continuing his good form for the Hammers in a bid to ensure he’s picked for the next international squad in the New Year.
