Jarrod Bowen ruled out of West Ham United v Fulham, could miss Bayer Leverkusen second leg

Jarrod Bowen has been ruled out of the Premier League clash between West Ham and Fulham, and could miss the second leg with Bayer Leverkusen too.

Writing on their website (12 April), The Guardian report that the winger missed the game in Germany on Thursday with a back injury and he won’t recover in time to place against the Cottagers on Sunday (14 April) at the London Stadium.

But he is also still a doubt for the second leg against Leverkusen next week (18 April), with the Hammers needing to overcome a 2-0 deficit to progress to the semi-finals.

“Jarrod Bowen was missing with a back injury,” they wrote.

“Bowen will not be fit for Sunday’s home game against Fulham and could miss the return against Leverkusen.”

West Ham United dealt Jarrod Bowen injury blow

The Hammers have had a rough time with injuries this season, and the lack of depth in the squad was clear for all to see in Leverkusen.

With Bowen out of the side David Moyes felt obliged to move a five-at-the-back system, and still didn’t trust any of Danny Ings, Divin Mubama or Maxwel Cornet when he wanted to make changes in attack.

Lucas Paqueta is now suspended for the return leg after picking up a yellow card during the game, and with Bowen set to miss the fixture too there are big problems ahead for the Hammers.

But before the Leverkusen game is a clash with Fulham at home, where a win could really help the team to achieve a finish in the European places once again.

Moyes must find a solution without arguably his best attacker for the game to get a big win, and then all focus can turn to Leverkusen.
