Jarrod Bowen ruled out of West Ham United clash v Bayer Leverkusen

Jarrod Bowen has been ruled out of the Europa League clash between West Ham and Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday night, according to the Daily Mail.

Writing on their website (9 April), the news outlet report that in-form winger will miss the game with a back injury which saw him forced off during the 2-1 win over Wolves at the weekend.

The injury is not thought to be serious, but he won’t be fit to play in the first leg in Germany on Thursday (11 April).

Further to that report, West Ham Football report (9 April) that the England international is suffering with a “bruised spine” and is likely to miss two to three weeks of action.

West Ham United dealt Huge blow ahead of Leverkusen clash

The Hammers had been dealt a huge task in the Europa League already, having been paired against Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen side who are yet to lose a game in any competition this season and currently lead the Bundesliga by a mind-boggling 16 points.

David Moyes’ side will once again be going into the game as underdogs but with the second leg at the London Stadium, there is hope that they could find a way to do what many are seeing as impossible currently.

But to do that the team need to be at full strength, and they are greatly weakened by not having Bowen in the side.

Bowen is currently having the best season of his career when it comes to goalscoring and he has seen a partnership with Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Paqueta and Michail Antonio blossom.

But Moyes will have to find a solution without his main man for the first leg on Thursday, and fans will no doubt be gutted by the news.
