Jarrod Bowen news emerges on England squad for West Ham United star

West Ham United winger Jarrod Bowen will be in Gareth Southgate’s final England squad for the 2024 European Championships, according to Dharmesh Sheth.

The Sky Sports News journalist posted on X with an update that all but confirms Bowen’s place on the plane to Germany.

Initially picked as the sole Hammers representative in a 33-man provisional squad, Bowen will now make the final 26-man cut later on Thursday 6 June.

England face Iceland on 7 June in their final warm-up match, and with his place in the squad set to be rubber-stamped, Bowen could be in line for another run-out before the Three Lions take on Serbia in their opening game.

Jarrod Bowen to represent West Ham at EURO 2024

As the only Irons player selected in Southgate’s final England squad for this summer’s Championships, Bowen has a chance to elevate both his stock and that of his club in the coming weeks.

Hammers fans will be hoping that the 27-year-old can tie down a regular starting place throughout the tournament, having shown his versatility to excel in a variety of positions last season.

Injuries, suspensions and Bowen’s exceedingly good form saw the former Hull City forward play on both flanks for David Moyes, as well as deputising as the sole striker in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Competition is high in an England squad brimming with world-class talent, but Bowen’s ability to cover in several areas could see him slot into the forward line; most likely off the bench, where he’ll do his best to stake a starting claim.

Having been selected over the likes of James Maddison and Jack Grealish in England’s attack, the onus is now on Bowen to show Southgate that his faith in the West Ham winger was not mislaid.

In other West Ham news, the club have “closed an agreement” for a La Liga striker in a deal worth £25.5m.
