Jarrod Bowen never stood a chance amid West Ham United news – Neil Moxley

Jarrod Bowen “never stood a chance” of not signing a new deal at West Ham United amid pressure from his family, according to Neil Moxley.

Writing in the print edition of the Sunday People (15 October, pg 63), Moxley noted Bowen’s girlfriend Dani Dyer and potential father-in-law Danny Dyer as key influences in the forward’s decision to remain at the London Stadium.

West Ham announced (8 October) that Bowen has signed a seven-year deal at the club keeping him in Stratford until 2030.

Moxley wrote: “But [Bowen] didn’t really stand a chance of doing anything else. With girlfriend Dani Dyer in one ear and potential father-in-law Danny Dyer in the other, the poor guy never stood a chance, did he?”

No chance

Bowen may have had little chance of avoiding a West Ham contract extension, but the Englishman will be over the moon nonetheless. His West Ham-supporting potential in-law Dyer has never shied away from expressing his admiration for Bowen, but his new deal will keep him a Hammer for the prime of his career.

His career has skyrocketed in the last few months, with his Europa Conference League-winning goal etching him into West Ham history, while his exceptional start to the new Premier League season has seen him called back up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

A start against Australia in a friendly may be the only international minutes he gets during this break, but his huge new contract from the Hammers will cushion any disappointment.

West Ham has rightfully rewarded Bowen with a bumper new deal which feels more deserved considering his obvious love and commitment to the club. Whilst with England, Bowen did not hesitate to credit the club for the trajectory of his career, saying: “That club gave me the opportunity. I wouldn’t be sat here without this club.”

With five goals this season, Bowen is comfortably the Hammers’ top scorer in the Premier League, and under his new terms, he looks set to be a key component of West Ham’s future success.

In other West Ham news, a cub chief has raged at a “totally unacceptable” multi-million Hammers bid for his player.
