Jarrod Bowen could miss West Ham United Europa League clash after knock v Sheffield United
Jarrod Bowen could miss the Europa League clash between West Ham and Freiburg after taking a knock in the 2-0 victory over Sheffield United, according to Sean Whetstone.
The West Ham news source shared via his Twitter account that the knock is not expected to be a long-term issue for the Hammers, but was the reason he was subbed off in the 93rd minute at the weekend.
If he does miss the Europa League clash, it appears it would just be as a precaution to keep him fresh before David Moyes’ side face a visit from Newcastle United in the Premier League on 8 October.
Need him fit and firing
Bowen has had an excellent start to the season so far, having scored five goals and provided one assist in seven Premier League games, and will be looking to push on and keep the Hammers pushing high up the table.
However, his fitness will need to be carefully managed. If Moyes feels there is an opportunity to rest him at any point, be it for a midweek clash or a weaker opponent, he must take that opportunity. They cannot afford for any knock to turn into a more serious issue.
The winger, who scored West Ham’s winning goal in the Europa Conference League final last season, has started the season on fire and become a crucial player at the London Stadium.

The club and Moyes must be careful not to load the burden onto him and will need to manage his game time where possible. If he picks up a more serious injury, there could be further ramifications and a direct impact on the team’s good form so far.
In other West Ham news, Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer were full of praise for one Hammers man.
