Jarrod Bowen contract is new West Ham United priority after Mohammed Kudus transfer
West Ham United have made extending Jarrod Bowen’s contract their top priority after signing Mohammed Kudus, according to the Daily Star.
The newspaper reported in its print edition on Monday (28 August, page 47) that the Hammers have turned their attention to securing the winger’s future as he enters the final two years of his contract.
David Moyes and those above him at the London Stadium are reluctant to see him leave for a cut-price fee should he run down the end of his contract and therefore have opted to prioritise extending the 26-year-old’s contract.

Bowen impressed once again in the Irons’ 3-1 win over Brighton, scoring his second goal of the Premier League season after his Conference League winner against Fiorentina at the end of the last campaign. Despite the new additions in East London is still viewed as a crucial asset.
No brainer
West Ham would have been stupid to not try and secure Bowen’s long-term future as the winger just seems to get better and better every passing week and has been crucial to the Irons’ recent success under Moyes.
Often he has been relied upon as the primary source of goals when the Hammers’ have lacked goalscoring pedigree in the centre-forward department, but Bowen seems to always deliver managing to find the net 13 times in all competitions last season.

For West Ham to be successful both under Moyes and likely after his tenure ends at the London Stadium, they will have to be able to keep their talent from moving on to bigger clubs as they will have been stung by not being able to keep Declan Rice away from Arsenal’s clutches this summer.
They have stood by their valuations of players and refused to be bullied into sales or pressured into paying inflated fees for incomings and this will have to continue well beyond this summer for the Hammers to continue to be successful domestically and in Europe.
Securing Bowen’s long-term future is a crucial step in that process.
