Jarrod Bowen concerns revealed at West Ham ahead of Graham Potter sack in worrying latest

Jarrod Bowen has been one of the few standouts for West Ham this season.

Bowen showed his leadership for West Ham against Wolves earlier this season, with the Hammers bouncing back in the 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest.

The forward has contributed towards the most goals of any player in the Premier League since April, with 11, and hasn’t been helped out by his fellow attackers in recent months.

Bowen is closing in on beating Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of the highest percentage of goals at a single stadium, but it hasn’t all been positive for the 28-year-old.

Graham Potter had concerns over Jarrod Bowen’s leadership

Graham Potter’s dismissal from West Ham on Saturday came as a surprise to supporters after he spoke at the Everton press conference only the day before.

The 50-year-old had been expected to take charge of the game against the Toffees on Monday, despite the Hammers speaking with multiple candidates over the last week.

Nuno Espirito Santo was announced just hours after Potter’s exit, with further concerns about the former Chelsea boss emerging.

According to The Athletic, Potter had concerns over captain Bowen’s ability to lead the team.

The winger was appointed captain in August 2024, while Julen Lopetegui was in charge of the Hammers and has kept the role since.

Bowen has become a fan favourite since arriving from Hull for £22million, and immediately adapted really well to the Premier League.

Graham Potter’s Jarrod Bowen concerns will annoy West Ham fans

West Ham fans felt that the way Potter was dismissed was unacceptable.

However, the latest revelations will frustrate supporters who will no longer have any sympathy for the 50-year-old.

If the ex-Hammers boss was to blame anyone for their lack of leadership, Bowen would be last on the list, having led the line well in a difficult period.

Other senior figures in the squad, such as James Ward-Prowse and Niclas Fullkrug, have been uninspiring and lacked leadership qualities, yet Potter still played them.
