Jarrod Bowen can equal West Ham hero’s record when England take on Wales in friendly
Jarrod Bowen can write some West Ham history on Thursday when England play Wales at Wembley Stadium.
Thomas Tuchel called up Bowen to his England squad for the fourth consecutive international break this week, with the winger continuing to star for the Hammers.
The Irons have faced an incredibly tough start to the season, but their captain has continued to perform, week in, week out.
Bowen is massively outperforming his expected goals (xG) in the Premier League, scoring three from an xG tally of just 0.8.
Nuno Espirito Santo was hired by West Ham following the departure of Graham Potter, and will hope to further utilise the forward’s danger.

Jarrod Bowen can match Scott Parker
Bowen did not make an appearance for England against Andorra during the last international break, instead getting off the bench against Serbia.
But the winger may well get more of a chance on Thursday, given that the clash against Wales is an international friendly, rather than a World Cup qualifier.
England will then travel to face Latvia on Tuesday, in what will be a qualifier for next summer’s tournament.
West Ham | England caps |
Bobby Moore | 108 |
Geoff Hurst | 49 |
Trevor Brooking | 47 |
Declan Rice | 43 |
Martin Peters | 33 |
Scott Parker | 18 |
Jarrod Bowen | 17 |
But Thursday’s game could be the all-important one for Bowen, who has the chance to equal some West Ham history at Wembley Stadium.
Should he make an appearance, the winger will receive his 18th England cap – matching former West Ham midfielder Scott Parker.
Now manager of Premier League club Burnley, the 44-year-old made appearances for the Three Lions between 2003 and 2013.
Parker made 129 appearances for the Hammers and was voted player of the year three times during his four years at the club.
The midfielder is remembered fondly at West Ham, despite ultimately handing in a transfer request to secure his move to Tottenham.

Bowen can join West Ham’s England legends
West Ham have had no shortage of England legends in their ranks, such as the likes of Sir Geoff Hurst and Sir Bobby Moore.
And with Bowen well on course to join Tuchel‘s team at the World Cup next summer, the forward has a great chance of marking his name among them.
Thursday should see the 28-year-old match Parker for caps, but in many ways, it still feels like just the beginning of Bowen’s England journey.
Should West Ham be able to turn around their fortunes, the Hammers captain could well find himself starting at the World Cup.
