Jarrod Bowen asked at Old Trafford to join team close-by West Ham, response is instant
Jarrod Bowen was quick to turn down the opportunity of joining a second club alongside West Ham United when personally asked at Old Trafford.
Bowen overtook Mark Noble’s record for Premier League away goals by a West Ham player when scoring at the weekend.
England international Bowen opened the scoring away at Brighton, brilliantly converting from a tight angle when played in by Callum Wilson.
West Ham had to settle for a 1-1 draw against Brighton in the end, but Bowen can certainly be pleased with his efforts at the Amex Stadium.
Bowen asked to join Baller League team
Bowen is no stranger to being linked with a West Ham exit, with every team in the Premier League no doubt wanting the forward.
It is not just professional teams that want Bowen, either, as NDL FC manager Niko Omilana made a cheeky offer for the 28-year-old to make the switch to the Baller League.
In a clip shared on X by Sky Sports, who show the competition, Bowen did not need long to respond to Omilana’s request.
“We play at Copper Box, right next door [to West Ham]. Could you come and play for my team, maybe?” Omilana asked pitchside at Old Trafford after West Ham’s recent draw there.
Omilana even said he’d give Bowen a “free role” to tempt him into joining, to which the West Ham favourite replied: “You got sacked, though, man. I don’t think I can. What about if I come as your assistant?“
The offer was made in jest, of course, with Bowen also proving a good sport by going along with it.
Bowen could be weeks away from setting major West Ham record
Bowen’s well-taken goal at Brighton was his 99th direct goal involvement for West Ham in the Premier League.
That is made up for 60 goals of his own and 39 assists. Only Michail Antonio has netted more (68) and been involved in more (101) for the Hammers in the competition.
Jarrod Bowen’s stats vs Brighton
90 minutes played
5 shots
4 successful dribbles
5 recoveries
5/11 ground duels won
4 crosses
Bowen could realistically overtake Antonio as West Ham’s all-time leading Premier League scorer within the next couple of months, given he only needs eight more.
The Englishman has four goals in the competition so far this term, which he will be slightly disappointed with, but there is no reason why he cannot now go on one of his scoring runs.
