Jamie O’Hara bursts out laughing after what Adama Traore said about West Ham today

Adama Traore has officially been announced as a West Ham player.

Traore completed his medical at Rush Green on Tuesday, and he now becomes Nuno Espirito Santo’s third signing of the winter transfer window.

West Ham signed Traore for £1million from Fulham, with an additional fee of £1m being paid if they manage to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

The Spaniard will sign a six-month deal, and the Hammers have the option to extend it for an extra year.

Nuno was desperate to sign Traore after spending three years together at Wolves, and Jamie O’Hara can’t believe what the winger said when he was asked about what it means to join West Ham.

Jamie O’Hara doesn’t believe a word of Adama Traore’s statement

The former Barcelona winger released a statement when the move was announced, and explained how happy he is to join West Ham.

One part of his statement read: “I’ve been seeing West Ham for a long time. It’s a massive club and a massive fanbase. I’ve been watching since I was young, when I watched films about West Ham.”

Speaking live on Sky Sports News on 28 January, O’Hara couldn’t contain his laughter after hearing that Traore used to watch West Ham films.

He said: “He didn’t watch films about West Ham. These players these days, some of the guff they come out with, I mean, come on.

“I get it, you want to get the fans onside, but just come in and do well for your team on the pitch.”

“Wasn’t he at Barcelona? He’s at Barcelona and watching West Ham films? No chance.”

The 30-year-old has hardly been used by Fulham manager Marco Silva this season, and he had to be guaranteed minutes before making up his mind on moving to E20.

Between 2018 and 2021, Traore enjoyed a good relationship with Nuno, and the ex-Wolves duo will now reunite at the London Stadium.

Although he won’t be a regular starter, he could provide great cover for Jarrod Bowen.

O’Hara feels Traore has all the qualities to be a success at West Ham

Traore is accustomed to playing under Nuno, and he has proven himself to be a perfect match for the Portuguese manager’s style of play.

Fulham play a more mixed brand of football, and it’s clear why he couldn’t make much of an impact by only coming off the bench against teams that sat deep.

As the Hammers aim to play on the counter-attack, his pace and power could be extremely effective in the latter stages of matches.

O’Hara added: “Traore’s a good signing because it links him back with Nuno. He can get you up the pitch, he’s fast, he’s direct, and he can be effective on the counter-attack.”

There have always been question marks over his end product in the final third, but he possesses a unique set of traits that could get fans out of their seats.

For such a small fee, the Hammers have managed to sign someone with an abundance of Premier League experience.

Only time will tell if he can play a part in helping West Ham avoid relegation.
