Jamie Carragher wowed by ‘brilliant’ Jarrod Bowen footage in West Ham defeat v Liverpool
Jarrod Bowen still managed to impress at Anfield despite a humiliating 5-1 defeat for West Ham in the EFL Cup quarter-final.
In between Liverpool’s third and fourth goals, from Cody Gakpo and Mo Salah, the England international did well to jink inside of Jarell Quansah and curl home a beautiful effort past Caoimhin Kelleher.
Jamie Carragher was full of praise for the Hammers winger, who felt like a passenger for most of the one-sided tie.

“That’s the quality of the Premier League,” he said live on Sky Sports on Wednesday night (20 December).
“Brilliant play by Jarrod Bowen. What a strike with the right foot that is, giving a glimmer of hope.”
Too little, too late
As we all know, it was just a consolation goal as Bowen bent his effort into the Liverpool net to dent the deficit to 3-1. But it will come as no surprise to anyone who has watched the winger play during the last two seasons, as he continues to lift West Ham through rough patches.
His goalscoring abilities make him one of the most frightening forwards in the Premier League, and possibly even Europe, with the Hammers progressing to the next round of the Europa League.

However, Bowen was let down by his fellow teammates as they were put to the five-goal sword for the second time in 10 days, offering him no support or service until he took matters into his own hands and fooled the Liverpool defence.
Although the game was far from gone at this point, it is important for Bowen to remain confident in front of goal, with Moyes’ squad lacking a real poacher in the penalty area.
When the two sides meet again in April, Jurgen Klopp may attempt to shut out Bowen for the full 90 minutes. But as shown in the EFL Cup fixture, that is much harder than you may think as the winger bagged his 12th goal of the season.
In other West Ham news, Daniel Sturridge and Roy Keane were in agreement over an incident in the recent match against Wolves, with a “WWE” verdict shared.
