Jamie Carragher: West Ham United will secure their Premier League status, Leeds to go down
Jamie Carragher doesn’t see West Ham United going down “at all” despite David Moyes’ side occupying 17th place in the Premier League table.
The Hammers have picked up of late and secured a precious point at Newcastle to build on their win over Everton at the London Stadium.
Carragher feels Moyes’ men will secure their Premier League status, with one of Leeds or Everton being relegated to the Championship.

“I don’t see West Ham going down at all. I think Nottingham Forest have six points on the bottom three, it’s a fair amount of points,” said the former Liverpool defender (Essential Football Podcast, 12m 03s, 9 February).
“I think it’ll be out of Everton or Leeds, I think Everton will just do enough and I think it’ll be Leeds. I think Southampton or Bournemouth will go down and I think one other.”
Wins on the board
We’ve seen the performances improve in recent weeks and it’s now up to Moyes to put together a consistent run of winning form for the Hammers. The board have stuck by the Scot during a time when their relegation rivals have made changes.
This weekend’s fixture against Chelsea is an opportunity for the Hammers to really show they’ve turned a corner in the 2022/23 campaign. Graham Potter’s men have been struggling of late and are still getting used to the influx of new players at Stamford Bridge.

Unfortunately, West Ham are likely to be without Gianluca Scamacca, with the Italian still looking to regain full fitness ahead of the match at the London Stadium. This could see Danny Ings return to the side after making a substitute appearance in the 1-1 draw at St James’ Park.
With Leeds and Everton also facing tough fixtures over the weekend and win could be vital for West Ham in putting some distance between themselves and the bottom three.
