Jamie Carragher urges West Ham ace Declan Rice not to join Man Utd

Jamie Carragher has insisted West Ham star Declan Rice should “run a mile” should Manchester United make a move for him in the summer transfer window.

The England internationals east London future is uncertain having turned down two contract negotiations, as per the Guardian.

With the Red Devils set to undergo a major rebuild under next season’s new manager Erik ten Hag, they could make their move for the 23-year-old amid links.

Former West Ham midfielder Declan Rice is now a senior player for England

He wrote in his Telegraph column: “When Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Jadon Sancho joined United, there was a sense the club was going in the right direction with young English talent. Now they look terrified to play at Old Trafford.

“If I was Declan Rice or Jude Bellingham observing their England team-mates’ troubles – unless my motivation was a big payday – I would run a mile if United called.”

Spot on.

Why on earth would Rice want to go and play for the shambles that is Manchester United when he is the star of the show at West Ham and a very good show at that.

Gone are the days when the Hammers are battling relegation or at best happy to coast by in the middle of the table.

David Moyes has restored the serious ambition once at the club with this season serving as proof.

For a long time, the words West Ham and Champions League haven’t belonged in the same sentence but they have been doing their best to get into the best club competition in the world and might just find themselves to be successful come to the end of the season.

This is a really exciting time to be an Irons fan and player with them being on the brink of greatness – just three games away from winning the Europa League.

They will be hugely disappointed if they don’t go on to win the competition but this season alone the Hammers have shown more ambition than United have since Sir Alex Ferguson left Old Trafford which is exactly why Rice should stay.
