Jamie Carragher predicts result of Crystal Palace v West Ham United in Premier League
Jamie Carragher has predicted West Ham United will fail to win again when they meet Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday (24 August).
The Sky Sports pundit gave his prediction on Sky Sports’ Super 6 [22 August] and believes the match at Selhurst Park will end in a 1-1 draw between the sides.
Julen Lopetegui lost his first match in charge of the Hammers 2-1 against Aston Villa while Oliver Glasner’s side also lost 2-1 to Brentford on the opening day of the 2024/25 season.
Amadou Onana and West Ham-linked Jhon Duran secured the Irons’ fate on the day and Lopetegui could soon be facing pressure early into life in East London after a busy summer transfer window.
West Ham United need to win against Crystal Palace
The match at Selhurst Park is a real opportunity for the Hammers to kickstart their Premier League campaign with a win.
West Ham were thrashed 5-2 by Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park last season but will face a much weaker side than the one that dominated the match in April.

Michael Olise left the Eagles for Bayern Munich last month [Sky Sports, 8 July] and they could be without their preferred centre-back pairing for the match as Joachim Andersen is set to move to Fulham [BBC Sport, 21 August], while Newcastle United are closing in on a move for Marc Guehi [The Telegraph, 21 August].
Lopetegui has been heavily backed by David Sullivan this summer and the spending has brought expectations for the Irons to finish in the European places.
It is still early into the new season and the summer signings will need time to adapt to life in East London, but Lopetegui needs to deliver three points against Crystal Palace and ease the concerns of the supporters after the underwhelming performance against Aston Villa.
