Jamie Carragher predicts Manchester City vs West Ham in new Erling Haaland claim

West Ham are gearing up for a trip to the Etihad to take on Manchester City on Saturday.

West Ham are entangled in a Premier League relegation battle, as Nuno Espirito Santo faces a major challenge in keeping them in the top flight.

Alphonse Areola has been tipped to play a major part against City, and the Irons are going to need the goalkeeper to have one of his finest games in a West Ham shirt if they are to come away with anything.

West Ham will have to put their 3-2 loss to Aston Villa behind them, but with the likes of Lucas Paqueta out of form, confidence in a result may be lacking.

Jamie Carragher drops ominous Erling Haaland claim in Man City vs West Ham prediction

Erling Haaland is once again in a goalscoring league of his own this season.

The 25-year-old is currently sitting on 17 goals from 16 Premier League games, and will enter the match with West Ham off the back of two strikes in his last league outing against Crystal Palace.

So, it won’t come as much of a surprise to any West Ham supporter to see Jamie Carragher predicting that the Norwegian will raid the Iron’s leaky defence for goals.

Speaking via his Super 6 predictions, Carragher said: “Haaland is sleepwalking to another Golden Boot, and he’ll strike again against West Ham in an easy win for Pep’s side“.

The Liverpool legend is going for an emphatic 4-0 win for Man City over West Ham.

West Ham don’t have history books to turn to for inspiration ahead of Man City either

Faced with near-impossible odds, West Ham players and fans alike will be looking for any glimmer of hope they can find that a result may be attainable on 20 December.

One of the first places to look is the history books, to see if they offer up any record of a consistent number of points picked up against a certain opponent.

Unfortunately for West Ham, however, that’s not the case when it comes to their recent encounters with the Cityzens.

As detailed by FotMob, Man City have scored at least three goals in each of their last five Premier League games against West Ham, with an aggregate score of 16-4 over the course of those matches.

Brace yourself, Irons, this one may not be pretty.
