Jamie Carragher makes shock West Ham v Bournemouth claim as prediction made

Jamie Carragher is expecting a tight encounter between West Ham United and Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday.

West Ham will look to earn their first win in four league games when they host the Cherries at the London Stadium on 5 April, having lost 1-0 against Wolves in their previous outing.

Bournemouth have been one of the surprise packages of the season, but recently dropped to 10th place in the Premier League due to a five-game winless run.

Graham Potter will hope to use that to his advantage on Saturday, but he must still be wary of the fact that Andoni Iraola’s side are still 10 points and six places ahead of them in the table.

Carragher predicts West Ham v Bournemouth scoreline

The game between West Ham and Bournemouth are not the most exciting Premier League fixture of the weekend by any means, with Manchester City and Manchester United locking horns elsewhere.

However, Carragher deemed the match interesting enough to feature it in his Super6 predictions for Sky Sports ahead of the weekend.

The Liverpool legend went on to tip West Ham to disregard Bournemouth’s league position to earn a victory over them at the London Stadium, predicting a 2-1 win in favour of the hosts.

He also backed Aston Villa and Brighton to beat Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace by the same margin, respectively, while predicting 1-1 draws for Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool, among others.

Potter needs to step up at London Stadium

While Potter deserves credit for steering West Ham away from the relegation zone, there is no denying that he needs to do more to keep his job at the London Stadium.

It is worth noting that the Irons have only won three of their 11 games across all competitions since naming the English tactician as their manager in January.

Potter is averaging only one point per game as things stand, and that is not good enough in the long term.

It remains to be seen if he can change that between now and the end of the season.
