Jamie Carragher expects West Ham to fall short of Man City feat vs Arsenal

West Ham have had good success at Arsenal in recent times, winning their past two visits to Emirates Stadium.

The East London club have had a difficult start to the season, and fan unrest continued in West Ham’s 1-1 draw against Everton at the Hill Dickinson stadium on Monday.

Jarrod Bowen was back on the scoresheet for West Ham to get his team back in the game, but the Hammers settled for a point in Nuno Espirito Santo‘s first game in charge.

Despite the new regime, it was an old habit that caught up with Nuno’s side as West Ham conceded from yet another set piece.

On Saturday, Nuno faces the best team at dead balls in the Premier League over the last two seasons, and Jamie Carragher isn’t backing West Ham to be able to cope with Arsenal.

Jamie Carragher predicts West Ham’s impressive run at the Emirates to end

West Ham have won both of their previous two Premier League outings at the Emirates Stadium.

A win at the weekend would make it three on the bounce for West Ham, and – in a stat provided by Opta to BBC Sport – they’d become only the second side to win three successive Premier League away games against Arsenal, after Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola’s side won six in a row from March 2018 to February 2023.

Sky Sports pundit Carragher isn’t backing the Hammers to match that feat, though, as he predicted a 2-0 win for the home side in his Super Six predictions.

The Premier League fans agree with the former Liverpool player’s view on the upcoming fixture.

West Ham’s best form this season has come on the road, with the four points they have gained coming away from the London Stadium.

The Hammers’ only league win came away at Nottingham Forest at the City Ground, ironically against Nuno himself, but he’ll be hoping his unfavoured squad can earn him a taste of victory at his new club.

West Ham’s flying full-back will keep Arsenal honest

Arsenal have won five of their last six games in all competitions, and are unbeaten at home for the season.

However, after what West Ham supporters have endured so far this campaign, the change in management should allow them to feel some form of optimism.

The Hammers impressed on the whole against Everton, with El Hadji Malick Diouf looking a real threat.

As brilliant as Bukayo Saka is going forward, he will have to be switched on defensively; otherwise, Diouf will become an outlet for West Ham, and he and potentially Crysencio Summerville will overload the Arsenal right back.

It’s a free hit for Nuno, but a result would go a long way to getting a good feeling back at West Ham.
