James Ward-Prowse injury news emerges for Manchester City amid live Jesse Lingard update from West Ham United training on Sky Sports
Jesse Lingard doesn’t need to be signed for the Premier League registration deadline as he trains again with the West Ham squad, according to James Green.
The journalist reported live on Sky Sports News Wednesday (13 September) from Rush Green, where the 30-year-old was filmed “enjoying himself” in training, that the Hammers are one of the teams who can sign players past the deadline the same day due to having fewer than 25 players over 21.
Additionally, James Ward-Prowse and Vladimir Coufal were spotted in Irons training despite suggestions over the international break so should be fit for the visit of Manchester City on Saturday (16 September).
Green said: “It’s definitely a chance isn’t it, this is a player that David Moyes knows well… Jesse Lingard is here with the players right now. He’s been with the squad for the last few weeks.
“It is Premier League registration deadline day today so Premier League clubs have to confirm their squads. Though if a team hasn’t got 25 players over the age of 21 they can register these players at a later date.
“West Ham do fall into that bracket so it isn’t a signing they need to make today, but he is training the players, you can see him now on your screens.”
He added: “We’ve seen Vladimir Coufal who did come off injured for the Czech Republic but he’s in training so it looks like he’s past that little knock.
“There were reports that James Ward-Prowse was carrying an injury too but he’s out here training with the players.”
Positives
With a major Premier League game coming up at the weekend the news on Ward-Prowse and Coufal is of greater significance than Lingard’s at this stage.
It doesn’t look like that a decision is going to be made on the former Manchester United man for the squad registration deadline, so he surely won’t have any bearing on the visit of the champions.
David Moyes’ side have so far been fine without him, and the longer it goes without a deal being offered the more it seems like the club don’t particularly require him.

Since there is apparently no time pressure, unless another club comes in to force the issue, it may be that the manager is comfortable not to sign Lingard but would do so if one of his squad suffered a notable injury.
If there had been anything significantly wrong with Ward-Prowse it might have increased the chances of a quick decision.
But thankfully for West Ham it looks like the summer signing is in line to continue his strong start for the club, after a goal and three assists in his first three games as an Iron.
In other West Ham news, it’s been mooted to become an “issue” the longer the Lingard question drags on this season.
