Injury Expert: West Ham United star ruled out until 28 December
West Ham star Michail Antonio is set to be out of action until 28 December after picking up a knee injury while on international duty with Jamaica, according to Ben Dinnery.
The injury expert shared the news via his Premier Injuries website, sharing that Antonio has injured his medial collateral ligament, making him the latest Hammers star to pick up an injury alongside Jarrod Bowen and Nayef Aguerd.
It was initially feared that the striker could miss around three months with the injury in a worst-case-scenario claim [Claret & Hugh, 19 November] but missing their main striker for just over a month still isn’t ideal for the Hammers.

A blow to the Hammers
While Antonio has been far from his best this season and has become a source of frustration to many fans, there is no doubt their side is weaker in his absence. The striker has been the regular first-choice under David Moyes so far this season.
With the injury to Jarrod Bowen coming at the same time, this blow leaves West Ham with just Danny Ings and Divin Mubama to choose from, unless another player is deployed out of position in an attempt to make up for the loss of their main striker.
Recently, Moyes had been experimenting by playing Bowen as a central striker rather than a direct winger, in a move which showed his worry about Antonio’s form, but a double injury blow to both players will have come as a particular frustration.

Luckily his return date is much shorter than the doomsday scenario mooted previously, but the Hammers will have to go a month without their first-choice striker, which is a bitter blow to any side.
