Injury Expert shares update on West Ham United defender Nayef Aguerd ahead of Burnley clash
West Ham United defender Nayef Aguerd is expected to be fit for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Burnley, according to Ben Dinnery.
The Injury expert, confirmed on his Premier Injuries official Twitter page (20 November) that the Moroccan international’s fitness status is at 75% and is expected to return on Saturday (25 November) after suffering a concussion injury in their 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest.
Claret & Hugh reported on 17 November that Aguerd is keen to join up with the Morocco squad for Tuesday’s game against Tanzania despite the Hammers preferring it if he remains at the club to recover well for Saturday’s game at Turf Moor.
Hope
West Ham United’s hope that the Moroccan would stay in London after the concussion blow is understandable given the damages it could do long-term and the recovery rest needed after it.
For a Premier League player to play again for their clubs after it, they will have to sit out for two weeks but it’s a shame the international picture is different which means Aguerd is free to play on Tuesday (21 November) for his country.
However, West Ham United will have to remain hopeful Aguerd doesn’t pick up an injury on international duty or doesn’t even feature as they face a crucial test against Burnley on Saturday.
The Hammers are already without Michail Antonio for the game and could well be without Jarrod Bowen too, so they cannot afford to lose one of their most prized defenders too.
Now, David Moyes and West Ham United as a whole will be sitting anxiously hoping Aguerd comes out of that crucial fixture unscathed because an injury to him, with Kurt Zouma still out recovering, would be incredibly damaging.
