Ian Wright stunned by Tottenham update in West Ham loss v Man United after ‘shocking’ Roy Keane rant
Roy Keane took aim at West Ham and ‘the Spurs’ of this world’ following Manchester United’s 3-1 victory in the FA Cup on Wednesday evening.
The Red Devils came from behind late on to secure their place in the quarter-finals at West Ham’s expense after the Hammers missed a hateful of chances to pull clear.
After going a goal down, Manchester United went on to score three quick goals and Keane was furious with the manner of West Ham’s second-half display and accused David Moyes’ players of getting “giddy” from their first-half performance.
When asked if he felt West Ham would cause an upset in the second half, Keane told ITV Sport (1 March, 09:48pm) after the game: “No, it never happens, seen it all before.
“They come, they get a bit giddy, they have opportunities.
“Loads of teams, not just West Ham, the Spurs’ of this world, they come to Old Trafford, they have a little bit of possession, one or two chances, they’re all excited.
“They get plaudits, then they end up getting beaten.
“Defensively, West Ham were shocking, absolutely useless in the second half, giving up three goals.”
ITV host Mark Pougatch said a couple of minutes later: “Don’t drag poor Tottenham into it, they’ve got their own problems. They’ve just lost at Bramall Lane.”
Ian Wright replied: “No way.”
Disappointing
West Ham will be incredibly disappointed at the manner in which they lost the game, giving away three goals through slack and mindless defending late on.
What’s worse is that Moyes’ men could well have been two or three goals up had his striker Michail Antonio rediscovered the form of last season if he bagged the two clear-cut chances he missed.

Against the top teams, slack defending will be duly punished and that’s what the Hammers have suffered for a long while against the Premier League’s big six under Moyes. It is a worrying trend for the former Everton boss.
With the club locked in a needless relegation battle in the coming crucial weeks, they simply cannot afford to defend like they did at Old Trafford or they could well be starting down the barrel of the Championship if they’re not careful.
