Ian Wright rages at ‘Pathetic’ incident in West Ham United win v Wolves
Ian Wright was left in a rage by the decision not to book West Ham United star Vladimir Coufal in the Irons’ win over Wolves, labelling the decision “pathetic”.
David Moyes’ side got back to winning ways in the Premier League with an impressive 3-0 win on Sunday 17 December, thanks to two first-half goals from Mohammed Kudus and a second-half strike from Jarrod Bowen.
However, it was far from plain sailing for the Hammers as Wolves had a goal ruled out for a marginal offside and Coufal avoided a yellow for an incredibly late challenge on Jean-Ricner Bellegarde in a decision that left Wright incredibly frustrated.

Speaking on Match of the Day 2 (17 December, 49:15) he said: “This is pathetic. That’s the only way I can describe it. Gary O’Neil got booked in this game, this guy didn’t even get booked, Coufal.
“He didn’t get booked for that. Look at his elbow, how is that not even a yellow? Come on man. It’s ridiculous, it’s ridiculous, that is ridiculous. It’s pointless saying anything and I don’t blame Gary O’Neil for not saying anything because oh gosh.”
Lucky boy
Coufal couldn’t have arrived much later for his challenge on Bellegarde without missing the Wolves man entirely. The Czech international more than left a bit on the Wolves man but somehow managed to avoid earning a yellow card for his efforts.
While it may not have changed the game, it was an incredibly poor referring decision at an important time in the game and the Hammers will feel as though they have got away with one that could well have proven costly in an important game.

Despite O’Neil and Wright’s frustrations, West Ham were more than worthy winners at the London Stadium with Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus producing incredible attacking performances that more than deserved three points.
Hopefully, this attacking talent in the Irons squad have begun to find their feet together and Sunday’s win is just a taste of what is to come. Moyes’ squad are more than capable of qualifying for Europe again if they continue to play like this.
