Ian Wright predicts result in West Ham Europa League clash v Lyon

Ian Wright believes West Ham have what it takes to beat Lyon and make it to the Europa League semi-finals.

The Hammers are set to take on the Ligue 1 side in the quarter-finals later today (April 14).

A win would set up a semi-final encounter with Barcelona should the La Liga side beat Frankfurt.

Speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, Wright said, “The ultimate goal is the Champions League. Their squad is not strong enough to do it through the Premier League and this is a very good chance.

“You feel like they’ve got a very good chance v Lyon and I think they can win. What they’re doing is magnificent.”

Get it done

Wrighty is absolutely spot on and magnificent things are happening at the London Stadium.

Nobody expected the Hammers to finish in the top six last season but they did that.

This season too, they are in the hunt for it and in the quarter-finals of a European competition.

The London Stadium faithful wanted a decent cup run and they’ve got just that this term.

They know that winning the competition is going to be hard, given the teams in it, but it’s still going to be remembered as one of the most special seasons.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have scouted a £20m-rated ‘Dangerous’ British striker and want to seal a permanent move this summer.
