Hutton shares verdict on Moyes at West Ham, suggests part of dressing room may not be happy
There was a sense of backtracking at West Ham United once they appointed David Moyes.
Less than two years before, the Scotsman kept the Hammers in the Premier League but both David Gold and Sullivan decided against giving him a longer-term contract at the London Stadium.
Now, Moyes is back again and there is the same sense of desperation for him to do the exact same this year.
Alan Hutton has recently commented on the appointment of Moyes and suggested that some of the dressing room may not be happy.
“I think they’re maybe trying to steady the ship with somebody they know, somebody who knows the club,” Hutton told Football Insider.
“They’re looking at being a club in the top-six, I thought they’d have a chance to be honest, at least top-half of the table with the squad that they’ve got and they’ve totally underachieved.
“I think it’ll be positive for some because you know what it’s like, some people like a manager, other don’t. There will ones there thinking: ‘He was in charge last time and he didn’t quite like me, does that mean I’m not going to play?’
“It will be positives for some and I think for others it will be a bit: I’m not too sure.”
Captain Mark Noble will be one of the players who will be tasked with keeping the dressing room together, but his reaction to Angelo Ogbonna against Crystal Palace proved that Moyes could be facing a hard task in east London.
Hutton definitely has a point, and this appointment is certainly less than convincing for the fans and everyone else involved – only time will tell.
