Huge pressure on David Moyes with West Ham United mutiny mooted at London Stadium

West Ham United manager David Moyes could face a mutinous atmosphere if his side fails to pick up any points against Leicester City, according to the Evening Standard.

The Hammers crashed out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night after losing on penalties to a largely second-string Blackburn Rovers side, with calls for the Scot to be sacked increasing.

And with Moyes’ side currently occupying a lowly 15th spot in the Premier League following a stoppage-time defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend, a win is necessary before the winter World Cup break.

According to the Evening Standard, there is now huge pressure on Saturday’s home league meeting with Leicester, as The Hammers look to improve their league position before Qatar.

West Ham

Deserves longer

Calls for Moyes’ head are a little premature considering everything the Scot has done for the club.

Having returned to London for his second spell following the sacking of Manuel Pelligrini, Moyes has taken his West Ham United side from strength to strength, which culminated in their qualification for the Europa Conference league last season.

Although his team crashed out to Blackburn Rovers in the Carabao Cup, this was always going to be a slight afterthought considering the club’s relentless schedule in both domestic and European competitions.

The Scot must turn results around in the league pretty sharpish otherwise, a relegation scrap could beckon. But with a strong leadership core of Declan Rice, Lukasz Fabianski and Michail Antonio, the players are unlikely to throw the manager under the bus as reports may suggest.

West Ham’s home fixture against Leicester on Saturday will be a crucial moment in Moyes’ reign, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them bag three points.
