‘Huge’ Graham Potter sack claim made on MOTD, West Ham manager in ‘real trouble’ after loss vs Crystal Palace

West Ham’s poor start to the season continued following their 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Before the match, West Ham fans protested against David Sullivan and Karren Brady, as the club continues on its sharp decline in the Premier League.

Palace beat West Ham 2-1 courtesy of a stunning Tyrick Mitchell volley, as West Ham’s seven-month winless run at the London Stadium continues.

Graham Potter is now on the verge of being sacked, as the Hammers now have the worst defensive record in the league.

Danny Murphy says Graham Potter must win next few games

Speaking on Match of the Day on 20 September, Danny Murphy claimed that Potter is under serious pressure and must turn things around as soon as possible.

He said: “West Ham don’t make enough chances, they don’t look a threat.

“If you’re not finding it to make chances and getting the fans off their seats, then it’s real trouble for him.

“He’s got to find some wins really quickly.”

Potter joined the club in January, yet has only managed six wins as West Ham manager.

His predecessor, Julen Lopetegui, who was hounded out of the club for underperforming in the job, was more successful in getting the best out of his players.

Potter managed to secure big wins away to Arsenal and Manchester United last season, but with one win from six matches in all competitions this season, a loss in the next game vs Everton could spell the end of his West Ham career.

West Ham are facing troubles off the pitch and failing to perform well on it, and the club continues to decline under the stewardship of Sullivan and Brady.

Potter must be sacked after Crystal Palace defeat

This must surely be the end of his miserable reign at West Ham, with Potter seemingly not achieving success with another Premier League club.

West Ham have not experienced the free-flowing football that Potter produced at Brighton in 2022, but instead have shown a consistent weakness in their defensive play.

The team has become even more reliant on Jarrod Bowen to come up with moments of magic each game, with very little threat being provided from West Ham’s forwards.

Potter isn’t the only person to blame, as recruitment has been questionable at certain times.

Mads Hermansen’s summer move for £20m is baffling considering how he has been exploited from corners, whilst the lack of a striker continues to frustrate West Ham supporters who are seeing their rivals surpass them with ease.

These are worrying times for the Hammers, and Potter’s sacking is the best solution for all parties involved.
