Harry Redknapp shares fresh West Ham relegation verdict after what he’s seen
Harry Redknapp believes that West Ham will struggle to get out of relegation danger.
West Ham succumbed to a 1-0 defeat to Fulham on 27 December, which has left them five points away from safety.
Nuno Espirito Santo faces a tough task to turn it around at the London Stadium, and avoid the Hammers dropping down to the Championship.
Former Irons manager Redknapp did not sound confident when asked about his old team’s chances of staying in the Premier League.

What did Redknapp say about West Ham’s relegation chances?
West Ham have a 66.9 per cent chance of relegation, according to Opta’s supercomputer, and Redknapp seems to agree with that.
The 78-year-old cannot see who could possibly replace the East London outfit in the drop zone before the season concludes, in a worrying new verdict.
Speaking on talkSPORT on 29 December (8:14 am), he said: “I look at the league, and I am thinking, well, who is going to go?
“Leeds are on a roll they are playing fantastic at the moment, I think Sean Dyche will get Notts Forest out, he knows what he is about, he’ll be fine.
“You are relying on Burnley, they are not completely out of it, Wolves look completely out of it, unfortunately for them, but Burnley could still, you know, they are red-hot favourites to go, but you never know.
“Who is that third spot, who is it going to be, I mean at the moment, West Ham are massive odds-on, I don’t see who else is going to get sucked in.”
How do West Ham prove Redknapp wrong?
The only way that they can do that, is to pick up more points than their rivals, from now until the end of the campaign.
As Redknapp said, though, that seems unlikely, due to the form of Forest and Leeds, unless something miraculous happens.
- Leeds are unbeaten in five, with wins over Chelsea and Crystal Palace and draws with Liverpool, Brentford and Sunderland
- Forest have won two of their last five, with wins over Wolves and Tottenham, but have played much better under Dyche
- The Irons have not won in their last seven matches, with three draws and four losses
The board need to invest in the January transfer market, and they need top-quality players, especially in the attacking areas, if they are to have any chance of survival.
There will not be much confidence that they can do that among the fanbase, as the summer window was a farce and is a huge reason why the club are in this position.
Only time will tell whether the Hammers can recover, but it seems like an almighty challenge for Nuno and Co. to try and pull off, even with the gap being as small as it is.
