Harrison Ashby could be punished for refusing to sign new West Ham contract

Harrison Ashby’s absence from the West Ham Premier League 2 squads could reportedly be the club punishing him for his refusal to sign a new deal.

According to a reliable Hammers website Six Foot Two, there has been speculation in and around the London Stadium and it remains to be seen if he’s sold in January.

The club decided against granting him his wishes to move to Newcastle his summer despite the arrival of a £2.5million bid.

Sell him

If the 20-year-old does not want to stay at the club and is refusing to sign a new deal, then it makes a whole lot of sense to part ways with him.

He clearly does not see a future at the London Stadium and if there is a market for him, the Hammers hierarchy should not come in his way.

They must also not reduce their asking rate and if Newcastle really want him, they will end up paying his price and signing him once the window opens.

For a club like Newcastle, it’s not hard to shell out a couple of million quid after their takeover and it’s the Hammers that need the money more.

We would have loved to see Ashby fighting for a regular first-team role, but his attitude has led to us questioning his desire to be at the club.

If he is kept against his will, his performances will take a dip and that’s not something anyone wants so the sooner he’s out the better and West Ham can move on from this saga.
