Graham Potter told he’s unlikely to manage in Premier League again after ‘brutal’ West Ham scenes

Graham Potter’s spell at West Ham United is over.

Potter has been sacked by West Ham after eight months in charge, with the final straw being the 2-1 defeat at home to Crystal Palace.

Criticism has come Potter’s way regularly this season, especially towards his side’s set-piece tactics, which have seen them concede a league-high seven goals from corners this season.

The West Ham board have now decided to take action ahead of Monday’s trip to Everton, and the sacking is bound to take a huge hit to Potter’s credibility.

Ian Ladyman claims Graham Potter is unlikely to work in Premier League again

Back-to-back sackings at Chelsea and now West Ham have taken a huge hit on Potter‘s previously brilliant CV, having worked wonders at Swansea City and Brighton.

The sacking at the London Stadium will do the most damage as it was seen as a redemption opportunity for Potter, who had been linked with the England job in the past.

His reputation now is in tatters, and the Daily Mail’s Ian Ladyman has claimed that Potter is unlikely to ever work in the Premier League again.

Ladyman tweeted: “Can he work in the Premier League again? Seems unlikely.”

He said in his piece for the Daily Mail: “He can have no complaints at the brutal manner of his dismissal. Those who recoil at the thought of a manager being allowed to take a pre-match press conference on a Friday only to find his replacement readying himself to take training the next morning don’t really understand the way this game works.”

West Ham need Nuno Espirito Santo appointment to work

West Ham have appointed Nuno Espirito Santo as their new manager, just a month after his own sacking at Nottingham Forest.

Nuno is very much the safe and correct option to take over at the London Stadium, having worked wonders at both Forest and Wolves.

Nottingham Forest38%
Nuno has a good record with Premier League clubs

However, the Portuguese manager does not have much time to play with in terms of getting his new side, given the position he finds West Ham in at the moment.

Potter, meanwhile, will likely need to drop into the lower leagues or go abroad to rebuild his reputation before he even thinks of managing a Premier League club again.
