Graham Potter confirms talks with West Ham chiefs in admission on his future – ‘No one is happy’

Graham Potter is under massive pressure as West Ham United manager.

West Ham lost 2-1 to Crystal Palace at the London Stadium last weekend to make it three defeats from three at home so far this season.

West Ham travel to Everton on Monday night, in desperate need of a victory to drag themselves back out of the bottom three.

Potter has come under significant scrutiny in recent weeks, with West Ham’s set-piece tactics under increased criticism as the Hammers have conceded the most goals from corners so far this season.

Nuno Espirito Santo has reportedly been lined up as a potential replacement, and Potter has addressed the rumours over his future in his press conference against the Toffees.

Graham Potter unfazed by West Ham sack rumours

Nuno is the clear favourite to succeed Potter should David Sullivan decide to end the Englishman’s disastrous tenure in East London.

It has been reported that the Hammers have been in talks with candidates over the past week as the pressure on Potter increases.

Potter has been asked whether he is feeling the effects of the reports of his potential departure, but the former Chelsea boss was adamant that he was aware of the pressures of Premier League football well before he took the job at the London Stadium.

Potter said at Friday’s press conference: “It doesn’t affect me. I don’t listen to that. It’s your job, and other people’s jobs, to create speculation and it’s part of the noise of the Premier League; it’s what you sign up for.

“So if results aren’t good, which they haven’t been and no one is shying away from that, the results aren’t what we want, then there’s always speculation.

“There’s always noise, there’s always negativity, and there’s nothing to complain about from my perspective.”

He later said about the higher-ups at West Ham: “We’ve had positive talks but we all understand where we are at and we want to improve.

“As I said before, no one is happy with where we are at, but at the same time you have to look at the context and the situation and not get caught up in the noise.”

Graham Potter is sleep-walking his way to the sack

Potter has been an unequivocal disaster since arriving in East London back in January, picking up just six victories in his 25 matches in charge.

The Hammers have been atrocious under the former Chelsea man, and he was arguably only given a free pass into this season due to keeping the club in the Premier League last season.

Graham Potter is one of the worst managers statistically in West Ham’s history

However, an improvement from the sides that have just come up from the Championship has exposed Potter’s ineptitude, and West Ham are on one-way ticket to the Championship with him in charge.

A win at Everton will help the Hammers’ survival chances, but a victory would only paper over the cracks at the London Stadium.

David Sullivan needs to strike now and get rid of Potter, before he realises its too late to save his side from the drop.
