Graham Potter appointment: New staff lined up as West Ham ready six exits
Graham Potter will be bringing in four new members of staff to West Ham as David Sullivan prepares to let Julen Lopetegui and his staff go, according to Jack Rosser.
The Sun journalist reported via X (8 January) that the Spaniard’s exit needs to be sorted after he took training on Wednesday (8 January), as he has five staff departing alongside him.
However, Potter has agreed to take over at The London Stadium, with the final details of his contract to be sorted, which should allow him be in the dugout against Aston Villa on Friday (10 January).
One of the areas that needs sorting is Potter’s backroom team, with the ex-Chelsea manager wanting to bring four staff members to the London Stadium.
Graham Potter set to take over at West Ham
After being brought in to replace David Moyes in the summer, Lopetegui has been unable to create positive change at The London Stadium and his exit from the Hammers has seemed inevitable for some time now.
However, Potter is an appointment you’d expect many supporters to be delighted with and, thankfully, it feels as though Sullivan hasn’t overthought this one and rather has just found someone who will be good for the job and easy enough to appoint.
Although the negotiations over contract length have taken some time to reach, the Irons chief will be pleased that he is not required to pay any money to take the 49-year-old from a different side, making the process smoother.
With the staff set to be in place, this is an announcement that is surely imminent and then the new West Ham boss will be able to get to work with plenty to be done in the January transfer window.
In other West Ham news, the arrival of Graham Potter could scupper one Hammers transfer in January.
