Graham Potter appointment: Everton snub expected at West Ham
Graham Potter will snub Everton to become the next West Ham United manager, Jamie Carragher believes.
The former English defender believes the Hammers are in a better position than the Toffees to entice the former Brighton head coach.
Potter will choose the Irons instead of the Blues because they are “guaranteed” to stay in the Premier League.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football (6 January), Carragher said: “They have won a European trophy, they are in London, they’ve got the Olympic Stadium. Everton have a new stadium coming.
“I do think it’s more of a fifty-fifty decision now. And maybe right now, you veer more towards West Ham because you are guaranteed staying in the Premier League next season. So I probably think he will go for them.”
Graham Potter appointment exciting for West Ham United
While Everton has a massive history behind them, Sean Dyche’s team are in a lurch at the moment.
While the Hammers have also been underperforming, the prospects at the East London club look better.
During the summer transfer window, the Irons invested heavily in their squad and boast some quality players failing under Julen Lopetegui.
West Ham have decided to sack the Spaniard [The Times, 6 January] as they sit 14th in the Premier League table after losing 4-1 to Manchester City in their previous fixture.

David Sullivan likely has lofty ambitions at the East London club, having parted ways with David Moyes despite the Europa Conference League triumph.
Potter didn’t do himself any favours at Chelsea, but the English manager’s stint at Brighton should excite many of the London Stadium faithful if and when he is appointed.
While getting a European spot seems unrealistic, the bare minimum the 49-year-old must do if he comes to the Irons is taking them to the top half of the table.
With Potter’s potential arrival, the Hammers still have the opportunity to end the season on a high note.
In other West Ham news, Jamie O’Hara was in disbelief at what he heard about Lopetegui.
