George Earthy to miss USA tour as West Ham injury news emerges

George Earthy will be hoping that this will be the year he breaks into West Ham’s first-team squad.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a fantastic campaign at Bristol City last season, helping them reach the Championship play-offs.

He was expecting to be given a chance to impress Graham Potter during pre-season and hopefully do enough to warrant some Premier League appearances.

Sadly, though, he suffered an ankle injury before the team’s training camp in Germany, and now he has received more bad news.

Earthy set to miss Hammers’ tour of the United States

Earthy was racing to try and be fit for West Ham’s pre-season tour of the United States, which will include three friendly games against Premier League opposition starting on 26 July.

However, ExWHUEmployee has now confirmed that the tour will come too soon for Earthy to feature.

Earthy should still be fit enough to be picked for the start of the Premier League season, but he’ll miss out on the chance to stake his claim for a place in the squad during this tour.

West Ham take on Manchester United on 26 July, before facing Everton (30 July) and Bournemouth (3 August).

Earthy should eventually get his chance to shine at West Ham

This is a disappointing setback for Earthy, but he should eventually be given a chance to prove himself in West Ham colours.

Earthy is a talented midfielder who showed the world what he can do during his loan spell at Bristol City.

West Ham fans, staff and squad members couldn’t help but notice Earthy’s form at Ashton Gate. He has been earmarked to rise into West Ham’s first team for some time.

Hammers fans love it when ‘one of their own’ rises through the ranks. What’s more, Graham Potter has a reputation for spotting young talent and developing them into superstars. Given the effect that inflation has had on the transfer market, he would surely prefer to develop a star from his own academy.

Earthy must be hoping that Potter sees him as the next young star to break into the West Ham team, so that he doesn’t need to spend millions on a midfielder from elsewhere.
