Gary O’Neil financial details emerge as West Ham step up Graham Potter replacement search
Gary O’Neil could prove to be the chosen alternative for Graham Potter at West Ham.
Potter is facing heavy sack pressure at West Ham after what has been a hugely disappointing start to the season for the Englishman at the London Stadium.
It appears that frustration over his time in charge have hit boiling point for David Sullivan and Co. after West Ham fell to defeat against Tottenham last time out.
As a result, West Ham have been linked with Slaven Bilic among other manager options ahead of a potential switch in the dugout.
Now, O’Neil has emerged as a target for the Hammers should Potter face the sack in East London in the coming days or weeks.

West Ham consider Gary O’Neil appointment
O’Neil was linked with West Ham as Julen Lopetegui’s replacement last year, but a move to East London never materialised for the former midfielder.
This ultimately saw Potter land the role and take over as head coach before undergoing a difficult spell with the claret and blue outfit.
If that poor stint is to continue, with clashes against Crystal Palace and Everton coming up, the sack trigger could be pulled on the Englishman.
With that being said, The Independent has reported, on 18 September, that O’Neil is one managerial option currently being considered by the Hammers.
The 42-year-old is highly respected at the London Stadium after positive spells with both Wolves and Bournemouth despite various struggles with both sides.
His style of play and system is seen as a plus, with O’Neil seen as a relevant choice to take over from Potter if he is sacked in E20.
Financially, O’Neil would also suit Sullivan down to the ground, given that he wouldn’t command a compensation fee due to him currently being a free agent after leaving Wolves last season.

Gary O’Neil could be perfect for West Ham
There is no getting away from the fact that it just hasn’t worked for Potter in charge at the London Stadium.
His footballing approach just hasn’t reflected well on the pitch, and ultimately, it looks likely to get him sacked in the very near future.
By comparison, O’Neil is likely to be more malleable and will be willing to chop and change, while keeping his philosophy of attractive football.
This could prove to be exactly what the Hammers need right now, even if his name may not initially go down well with supporters.
