Gary Neville: Solsksjaer will say ‘No’ to West Ham loan star Jesse Lingard

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will tell West Ham loan star Jesse Lingard to find a new club in the summer, according to Gary Neville.

Lingard, 28, has been in superb form since joining the Irons on loan from Man United in January, scoring nine goals and supplying four assists in 13 Premier League appearances.

Eurosport reports the England attacker is likely to join the Hammers permanently for £25million in the summer but Old Trafford legend Neville claims he might try to get back into the Man United squad first.

However, Neville doesn’t believe Solskjaer would be up for that.

As quoted on the Sky Sports website, Neville said: “There’s a feeling that Jesse Lingard, having done really well at West Ham, could come back, but I think Ole will say ‘no’ and tell him to go and explore elsewhere.”

Stuttering form

Has anyone else noticed Lingard’s form has taken a sharp turn for the worst in recent weeks?

In his last three appearances, the Irons loan star hasn’t scored or assisted a goal nor has he been anywhere near as effective in the attack.

West Ham have scored just twice in their last three Premier League matches and both of those came in the win at Burnley.

It’s not really a coincidence that Lingard’s dip in form has coincided with West Ham’s overall loss of form too with David Moyes’ side all but seeing their bid for the top-four ruined in the last few weeks.

This isn’t to say that we don’t want Lingard.

Every player goes through their peaks and troughs.

However, we needed Lingard to step up in these last few games and he simply hasn’t. We’re a bit disappointed by that but it shouldn’t put the Hammers off paying for him in the summer.
