Gary Neville reacts to Mohamed Salah controversy in Liverpool draw v West Ham United
Gary Neville has spoken out on Jurgen Klopp and Mohamed Salah after the two clashed on the sidelines against West Ham on Saturday (27 April).
The Hammers welcomed Liverpool needing to bounce back after a heavy defeat away to Crystal Palace last time around, drawing 2-2 at the London Stadium.
Jarrod Bowen opened the scoring just before halftime and then Andy Robertson levelled the game up after the break, with Michail Antonio rescuing a point after an own-goal.
Klopp and Salah were seen engaging in a heated conversation, and speaking on the Gary Neville Podcast (28 April), the co-commentator compared it to his own experiences as a player.
He said: “Unpleasant when you see an amazing manager and an amazing player, I had it a few times at Manchester United and there’s only one winner. The manager’s leaving so that might help Mo Salah, there might have been a problem if it was to carry on for the season.”
How did West Ham United perform v Liverpool?
David Moyes’ side had fallen to three defeats and a draw in their last four games in all competitions, pre-Liverpool.
This did include a positive draw at the London Stadium against Bayer Leverkusen which was impressive as a general rule.
Anything good in that game was undone away at Selhurst Park as the Hammers were smashed 5-2.
A draw to a title-challenging side could prove to be the catalyst for a better end to the season in Moyes’ potential final hurrah.
It must be said that the Reds dominated the ball throughout as they managed to keep 71 per cent of the ball, according to FotMob. This saw Klopp’s side register 28 shots with two of those being big chances.

Although they had more shots, the Hammers had the same number on target as both teams could only total eight.
It was certainly a more positive Premier League performance compared to recent weeks. Now fans can look forward to the London derby against Chelsea next weekend.
