Gary Lineker shares five-word Nuno Espirito Santo verdict after West Ham draw vs Bournemouth
Gary Lineker was full of praise for the work done by Nuno Espirito Santo at West Ham following the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.
West Ham let a two-goal lead slip at Bournemouth on Saturday, but a point was ultimately a positive outcome from what was a tough fixture on paper.
West Ham beat Burnley and Newcastle United in their final two games prior to the international break, making it seven points from the last nine on offer.
Nuno’s West Ham tenure started slowly, with talk that he could even be gone before too long, but the Portuguese has brilliantly turned things around.
Gary Lineker talks up West Ham improvement under Nuno Espirito Santo
Callum Wilson was brilliant against Bournemouth as he scored twice against his former side to put West Ham 2-0 in front.
That is the way it remained until around 70 minutes in, making the fact it finished 2-2 all the more disappointing for the Hammers.
Still, West Ham’s improvement over the past month or so has been clear to see, with Lineker heaping praise on Nuno.
Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, Lineker summed things up nicely when he said Nuno’s “doing a pretty good job” as West Ham boss.
Lineker went on to also praise the work of Sean Dyche at Nottingham Forest after their 3-0 win at Liverpool over the weekend, pointing out he’s the ideal fit to replicate what Nuno achieved at the City Ground.
West Ham and Nuno face tough run ahead
The turnaround in form has come at a handy time as West Ham now have some tough games ahead – or so it may seem.
A trip to Old Trafford awaits West Ham on 4 December, following a visit of Liverpool to the London Stadium next weekend.
| Fixture | Date | Stadium |
| Liverpool | 30/11 | London Stadium |
| Manchester United | 04/12 | Old Trafford |
| Brighton and Hove Albion | 07/12 | Amex Stadium |
| Aston Villa | 14/12 | London Stadium |
| Manchester City | 20/12 | Etihad Stadium |
Liverpool may be badly out of form, with questions over Slot’s future at Anfield, but they have a superb record in this fixture.
Indeed, only once in 20 attempts have West Ham got the better of the Reds, so these next two fixtures will be very tough.
And with the Irons only out of the relegation zone on goal difference, they cannot afford to go those next two games without taking anything.
