Gary Lineker immediately reacts to what Alan Shearer said about West Ham United

Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker agree that not “all is well” at West Ham United after the 5-2 loss against Arsenal on Saturday.

The clash at the London Stadium [30 November] provided the most entertaining 45 minutes of football played all season, as all seven goals were scored inside the first half of play.

However, the co-hosts discussed the Hammers’ performance on The Rest is Football [2 December] and believe Julen Lopetegui is back to square one after a humiliating defeat in East London.

Shearer said: “I didn’t expect them to win against Arsenal, but I expected a bit better, particularly after the result against Newcastle last Monday evening. Where they really deserved that result against Newcastle, so I was thinking, ‘Here we go, we might see a little bit better from them’.

“But yeah, I don’t think they’re great at the back, and they give too many chances away – yeah, I’m not convinced all is well at West Ham.”

Lineker added: “I wouldn’t disagree.”

“Disgrace” Julen Lopetegui is dragging West Ham United through the mud

The decision to appoint the Spaniard as David Moyes’ successor has been branded a “disgrace” as, once again, Lopetegui is left wondering what went wrong as West Ham had looked like turning the tide after the 2-0 win against Newcastle United.

While Lopetegui may feel his side was “unlucky” on the day, anyone with two eyes and a nose cannot be fooled by his delusion; in every sense of the word, conceding five goals in 45 minutes of Premier League football is quite literally the opposite of unlucky – it is atrocious.

When the right-back, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, is deemed the best player on the pitch for the hosts, it is a damning recognition of just how poor West Ham played and just about sums up Lopetegui’s tenure in East London.

Delusional comments will do him no favours in winning over the West Ham faithful, albeit, at this stage, the relationship between the manager and the supporters is undoubtedly broken beyond repair.

Furthermore, talkSPORT revealed on 5 November that Lopetegui had lost the dressing room at the London Stadium, begging the question of how he has been allowed to continue his duties amid a player revolt.

David Sullivan, it is time to put your ego aside and act in the best interests of the football club and its loyal supporters by ending the underwhelming, disgraceful and downright laughable reign of Lopetegui.
