Gary Lineker cuts off Micah Richards over ‘Outstanding’ West Ham star
Gary Lineker interrupted Micah Richards as he was talking about West Ham star Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s performance against Aston Villa.
The Hammers secured a 1-1 draw at Villa Park on 26 January and were denied victory by the offside flag after Lucas Paqueta thought he had scored a late winner.
The 27-year-old grew into the contest in the second half and created the most chances in the match with two, via Fotmob.
Speaking on the Rest is Football podcast (27 January, 17:14), Richards said: “I actually thought Wan-Bissaka was outstanding…”
Lineker cut him off, saying: “I was going to say the same thing. Brilliant performance.”
The former Manchester City star then continued: “I really did, his energy, his workrate, his delivery at times, his recovery runs, his tackles, it was just brilliant to see.”
Wan-Bissaka continues to impress at West Ham
The majority of Tim Steidten’s summer signings at the London Stadium have not worked out, leading to his expected departure from the East London club.
However, the former Manchester United man is an exception as he continues to shine under Graham Potter after thriving for Julen Lopetegui.
He has locked down the right-hand side of the Hammers’ defence ahead of Vladimir Coufal and was selected in Darren Bent’s Team of the Season so far in December.

The right-back is known for his defensive abilities but he has improved his attacking prowess since moving to the London stadium.
The former Crystal Palace star has two goals and one assist in 22 appearances this season and has been a rare threat for the Londoners who are without Niclas Fullkrug, Jarrod Bowen, and Michail Antonio.
He may be the signing of the season, not just for the Irons but for the whole of the Premier League despite the Hammers’ struggles.
In other West Ham news, the club have been linked with a loan move for a wantaway Chelsea star.
