Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer rave about ‘fantastic’ David Moyes after West Ham United win v Sheff Utd

Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer raved about David Moyes after West Ham secured a victory over Sheffield United on Saturday (30 September).

Speaking on Match of the Day on Saturday (1:28:19), Lineker said it is “absolutely fantastic” that the Hammers boss reached 900 games as a manager in the 2-0 win at the London Stadium.

He added that the Irons are “going well”, with Shearer agreeing with the presenter and praising Moyes for the career he’s had in the game.

“West Ham, though, going well,” said Lineker.

“Going well, yeah,” said Shearer. “13 points and his 900th game – what a career he’s had David Moyes. Clean sheet as well.”

“Absolutely fantastic,” responded Lineker.

Credit is due

There is no doubt that Moyes deserves an awful lot of credit for what he has done in football as a manager after securing a victory against Sheffield United in his 900th game.

The Scot has taken West Ham to another level over the past few years and ensured he will be remembered as one of the finest coaches to manage the club.

Lineker is right that it has been a good start for the Hammers this season after picking up a fourth win of the campaign in the opening seven matches.

A clean sheet will be very welcome as well as they look to tighten things up at the back while aiming to control more of the possession and be more effective with the ball moving forward.

It’s still very early days, but the signs are there to suggest this could be another successful season for the club as we look to compete higher up in the Premier League table.
