Gabriel Agbonlahor warns West Ham United could be in ‘crisis’ amid relegation scrap

Gabriel Agbonlahor has warned West Ham that they face a “crisis” and must “be careful” of relegation amid their recent form.

The Hammers have lost their last five Premier League games in a row and find themselves outside of the relegation zone on goal difference alone ahead of their clash with Leeds on Wednesday night.

But speaking on the talkSPORT breakfast show (4 January, 6:36am) after Everton’s 4-1 defeat to Brighton, Agbonlahor claimed that we’ve seen big teams go down before and West Ham must be careful not to join them.

West Ham

“You look at it and you’re thinking Southampton, Forest, Bournemouth, but it doesn’t always go down like that. That them three are going to go down.

“Teams like Everton and West Ham, if they don’t get their act together, they could easily be in a crisis of going down.

“Because we’ve said it before, Newcastle have been relegated. Aston Villa have been relegated from the Premier League. Big teams can go down, and this season Everton and West Ham have to be careful.

“The only saving grace for Lampard is he’s probably saying to his board, ‘look at David Moyes, look at West Ham. We’re still above them.'”

Awful

West Ham have been absolutely awful for a long time now, and the future of David Moyes is a big talking point at the club.

West Ham

But before Moyes is West Ham, and we need to ensure our own safety and survival before anything else, because nobody is too big to go down as we found out ourselves not that long ago.

The club spent a lot of money in the summer bolstering the squad and yet they’ve got worse performance wise, which is simply unacceptable.

It’s easy to forget though that we aren’t even halfway through the season yet and there is plenty of time to turn it around, whether that is with Moyes at the helm or someone else.

Agbonlahor is right that we must be careful, and calling it a crisis definitely sounds about right, but there is plenty of time to fix it and get back up the table where we want to be.
