Gabriel Agbonlahor rates James Ward-Prowse West Ham United season so far live on talkSPORT
Gabriel Agbonlahor has rated James Ward-Prowse among the best signings in the Premier League this season after his start at West Ham.
The Hammers splashed £30m to sign the England international from Southampton and he has hit the ground running, becoming a key member of David Moyes’ midfield at the London Stadium.
And when asked to rate the big summer signings out of 10 for their season so far, Agbonlahor told talkSPORT (19 October) that the 28-year-old had been “outstanding” so far.
“Ward-Prowse I’m going to give an 8 as well,” he said.
“He has two goals and six assists in all competitions. Outstanding signing for West Ham.”
Brilliant
There were certainly some question marks about the signing of Ward-Prowse initially because a lot of people were of the opinion that he was a dead ball specialist and not much else.
But since coming to east London he has proven to be far more than that, with fantastic energy off the ball, great tactical intelligence and a real leadership that was missing after Declan Rice’s move to Arsenal.

When discussing the best signings of the summer people tend to look right at the top of the table, and while James Maddison has definitely been brilliant for Spurs Ward-Prowse has been overlooked regularly.
For just £30m, to deliver what he has at the highest level for a team who according to many have no right to be up near the top of the table and competing in Europe is just sensational.
He’s the perfect David Moyes midfielder and he’s quickly becoming a fan favourite among those in claret and blue, and we can’t wait to see what’s next from him.
