Gabby Agbonlahor shares West Ham United prediction for Premier League showdown v Tottenham

Gabby Agbonlahor has backed West Ham United to beat Tottenham 2-1 in their Premier League clash on Sunday afternoon.

David Moyes’ men head to North London inside the relegation places after Bournemouth and Everton both picked up vital victories.

Despite their lowly league position, the talkSPORT pundit believes the game against Spurs could suit them and has backed them to secure a crucial victory.

“This might suit West Ham a bit. West Ham will win games you don’t expect them to. I think West Ham win 2-1 against Spurs,” said the former Villa striker (talkSPORT EDGE clip, 19 February).

Vital

Three points against Antonio Conte’s side could be absolutely vital in West Ham’s fight to avoid relegation. A win on Sunday will see the Hammers leapfrog three teams and put a little bit of breathing space between themselves and the bottom three.

Tottenham are certainly there for the taking and are coming off of a disappointing defeat to Leicester in their last Premier League fixture. Furthermore, Spurs were also in action against AC Milan in the Champions League.

West Ham

This feels like a good time to be facing them and if West Ham can repeat their performances from recent weeks they have a good chance of picking up a positive result. The Hammers shouldn’t be languishing near the bottom of the table, but unless something changes fast, they will be facing a tense end to the 2022/23 campaign.

Staying strong defensively and looking to punish their hosts on the counterattack could well be the best route for Moyes’ men to go down.
