Gabby Agbonalhor predicts outcome of West Ham United v Silkeborg
Gabby Agbonlahor has backed West Ham United to beat Danish side Silkeborg 3-0 in their Europa Conference League tie on Thursday evening.
The Hammers have already qualified out of the group and need just a point to secure top spot to avoid the first knockout round.
Agbonlahor feels they will win but couldn’t resist taking a sly dig when asked who the Hammers would be playing Thursday (27 October) evening.
“Vs who? It’s like you’re making these names up,” said the former Aston Villa striker (talkSPORT EDGE, 27 October).
“I am going to go West Ham to win 3-0. Look at All the players they’ve got in their team, Antonio will start. He’s not been starting and will have a point to prove. Fornals and Lanzini will need to get in amongst the goals to try and break into the Premier League team.”
Good run out
It would be good to see David Moyes give some of his younger players a runout on Thursday with the Hammers likely to top their group. 20-year-old Pierre Ekwah has been spotted training with the first team ahead of the match and could be given a run out by Moyes.
The Conference League has been a good addition to West Ham’s schedule this season with Moyes able to get some of his summer signings up and running in the competition. In the latter stages of the season it would not be a surprise to see the competition become a real priority for the Moyes.
To compete for Europe in the Premier League will be a tough tast this season which means the Conference League could be West Ham’s most viable route into the Europa League next season.
The Hammers have six games before the World Cup and Moyes must be looking to cement their Premier League position as well as ensure they’re still in all of the cup competitions.
