Fresh twist emerges in West Ham United January push for Callum Wilson as David Moyes stance shared

West Ham United will not sign Callum Wilson or any other strikers during the January transfer window as David Moyes is happy with his current options, according to Claret and Hugh.

The outlet reported on its website on Monday (29 January) that the Hammers are not going to sign the Newcastle United forward this month due to teh hefty fee involved and will instead turn their attention to other areas of the playing field.

Moyes will stick with the limited strike force at his disposal from now until the end of the season and will instead look to sign wingers and defenders before the transfer deadline on Thursday 1 February.

Risky strategy

Before the window opened at the turn of the new year, most West Ham United supporters were in agreement that the Hammers needed a new number nine, given the lack of options available to Moyes at the London Stadium.

Jarrod Bowen has impressed when deployed out of position, but neither Michail Antonio nor Danny Ings have shown that they are capable of scoring the goals to fire the Hammers into the European places again this season, while Divin Mubama hasn’t got Moyes’ trust.

West Ham

It seems strange that the Scotsman has decided to roll with the options at his disposal for the remainder of the season, but the January window has proven difficult for most Premier League sides and a deal for a striker may just be too expensive this month.

The Hammers will now have to pour all of their resources into adding to their backline and wide options before Thursday’s deadline, especially now that Bowen will almost certainly have to be used as a striker week in and week out.
