Frank Lampard tips West Ham to impress in the Europa League

West Ham United are playing in their first-ever Europa League group stage campaign, and Frank Lampard expects them to do well in the competition.

The Hammers finished the last Premier League season in sixth place, securing a place in Europe’s second-tier club competition as a result.

Manager David Moyes and his men will be keen to show what they are made of against some of the best teams on the continent, and Lampard believes they can go far.

“I think they have got a really good manager in David Moyes, really experienced and now absolutely getting the credit for the job he is doing and done there,” the erstwhile Chelsea manager said (via Football.London).

“They have a good squad of players which it seems they will keep and maybe add to slightly, we will see in the rest of the window.

“They are a strong team and I think they will do well again in the league. I think in the Europa League it is up to them and they could have a really good run.”

Optimistic

West Ham’s chances of going far in the Europa League will depend on which teams they are drawn against during the group stages.

It is going to be a star-studded competition this season, and we need to be on top of our game to have a chance of impressing.

While it does not boast of the glamour and money that comes with the Champions League, it is a tough competition, and the schedule and travels could affect our domestic performances if not well managed.

At the moment, we do not have enough squad depth needed to impress in four competitions, and we can only hope outfield additions are landed within the three weeks left in the summer transfer window.

That will determine how we fare in the Europa League and Premier League next season, and the current state of transfer affairs has not been encouraging.

It remains to be seen whether West Ham will keep it late in the window, but there is no denying that Moyes really needs two or three signings capable of improving this team.
